North Dallas Forty-Ounce

Captured in this screen shot is Seth Maxwell, fictitious star quarterback of the North Dallas Bulls, as portrayed by Mac Davis in the 1979 film North Dallas Forty. Here Maxwell is working both arms independently, a technique which recruits more stabilizer muscles and helps build symmetry. It is a good idea to incorporate these type of exercises into our routines if our dominant sides become noticeably stronger or larger than our passive sides. My only suggestion here would be for Mr. Maxwell to better balance the weight being lifted by super sizing that 12-oz. to a 40.

  1. That movie and Bo Derek in "10" are the reason my parents said they got rid of HBO just after we got cable. Also the reason I had to watch Bo Derek run down the beach and play pool through other people's windows. Ha!

  2. That HBO guide with Bo Derek on the cover was quite risque back then. You may remember the scene in North Dallas where Nick Nolte tells his love interest that he learned all his social graces from his football coaches. Unfortunately, I think I may have learned a good portion of mine from HBO!
