Now I wouldn't necessarily classify the new study published in The Cochrane Library and linked for you here as ground-breaking research. But that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the authors' next study, however, in which they hope to determine the snowiest of the four seasons in North America. See, I have a set of snow tires around back, and every year I am confounded as to when I should mount them on my truck. The results of the upcoming study will undoubtedly clear up a lot of confusion for me.
Going back to the study, I was spared the agony of dialysis, so I can't speak to that audience. But I either was or am part of the other two categories of people considered in this research: adults with CKD who do not yet need dialysis and kidney transplant recipients. At no time as a member of these groups have I ever once heard that exercise isn't a worthwhile pursuit. By the same token, I was never told by the medical community that exercise was a worthwhile pursuit, so perhaps this is ground-breaking news for those in that profession.
I guess I was just lucky - all these years I just assumed exercising and being active was good for me, and therefore I lived a lifestyle reflecting that assumption. Now, research has finally come along and confirmed my suspicions. I feel so validated. And a little smug.
If this was facebook I would hit the "like" option.
